Sulzer 9S20H Diesel Generator
The Sulzer S20 series is a family of medium-speed, four-stroke diesel engines manufactured by Sulzer (now part of Wärtsilä / different ownerships over time), intended for marine propulsion and generator / auxiliary power applications. The 9S20H is the 9-cylinder, inline version, often used in generating sets (gensets) aboard ships or in heavy industrial plants.
With a bore of 200 mm and a stroke of 300 mm, the Sulzer 9S20H achieves a favorable stroke-to-bore ratio of 1.5:1, ensuring efficient combustion and optimized fuel economy. Depending on configuration, it can deliver power outputs of over 1,000 kW at 900 RPM, making it suitable for large vessels, auxiliary generator sets, and industrial plants. Despite running on heavy fuels, the engine maintains an excellent brake-specific fuel consumption (BSFC), contributing to reduced operational costs.
